Adolescent ADHD

It’s not a problem of knowing what to do, it’s a problem of doing what you know

They may be bright, know what to do and just don’t meet the expectations. For some reason things seem to be a bit harder for them like turning in homework, or remembering where they put something. It comes off as being lazy or just not caring. When faced with difficulty they may respond by shutting down, acting out or giving up. It’s not that they don’t know what to do, or that they’re choosing to fail. It’s an issue with performance all because of ADHD and its impact on the brain.

ADHD Counseling Path

  • Diagnosis

Teachers, coaches, classmates, and maybe even you have wondered does my teen have ADHD? It all begins with a thorough history and assessment to accurately diagnose. Includes different severity’s and determines what type of ADHD.

  • Treatment Plan

Accurate diagnosis leads us to create a plan targeting weaknesses by utilizing strengths including family, interests and goals in life. Treatment consists of a variety of options as everyone responds differently and ADHD is a spectrum from mild to severe impairments in important life functions.

  • Maximize Potential

It often takes children with ADHD much more effort to achieve what they do than their peers. Learning how ADHD functions and practicing all tools and skills in sessions and outside of sessions will allow your teen to continue to press forward to their life goals.
